Jennifer A. Brush, M.A., CCC/SLP has been working for over 20 years to change the face of dementia care in hospitals, assisted living communities, nursing homes and home care. She is a nationally recognized speech-language pathologist known for her work in the areas of memory, swallowing, and environmental interventions for people with dementia. 

She has served as the Principal Investigator on applied research grants that have examined issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS dementia, hearing impairment, dining, dysphagia, and the long-term care environment. Her research and consulting in the area of environmental modifications has resulted in improved functioning for people with dementia. Jennifer offers interactive and educational presentations and coaching that help clients bridge the gap between current research findings and the care needs of people with dementia.

Jennifer is the author of Meal Time Matters and Meal Time Matters at Home, training programs that build nursing assistants' and home caregivers' skills related to dining, swallowing disorders, and safe feeding assistance. In addition, she is the primary author of two books: Environment and Communication Assessment Toolkit™ (ECAT) and A Therapy Technique for Improving Memory: Spaced Retrieval. Jennifer has authored over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, served as guest editor of the journal Seminars in Speech and Language, volunteered as Chair of Professional Development in Gerontology for the American Speech Language Hearing Association Special Interest Group, and was an editorial reviewer for SpeechPathology.com.



Kerry Mills, MPA is the driving force behind Engaging Alzheimer’s. She has earned recognition in the field of Alzheimer’s care as a former Regional Manager for the pioneering Hearthstone Alzheimer’s Care organization, located in Woburn, MA. In Kerry’s 12-year career working with the elderly, eight of which were spent directly serving people with Alzheimer’s, she has done everything from being executive director of several Alzheimer facilities to developing programs that provide a meaningful lifestyle for those afflicted with this disease. Kerry is also the Dementia Liaison for White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York and has conducted training workshops for members of the medical staff in best care practices for patients with dementia.
In addition to writing a training manual for personnel attending to the needs of people with Alzheimer’s, Kerry successfully completed an assessment of dementia care in all hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, day care programs and home care agencies in the London, UK borough of Barnet. Her resultant treatment proposal was accepted by England’s NHS. Whether Kerry is participating in a symposium on health care at the United Nations, sharing her expertise with health professionals in China, moderating a state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s program at Boston’s prestigious Coolidge Theatre, guest lecturing to medical professionals in Hong Kong, training professional care-partners in Toronto or simply meeting with a family, she exhibits a high level of enthusiasm and encouragement and delivers a message of hope regarding this debilitating disease.
